Izzie and I's AU where America is a cop who works with abused children, Canada is his boyfriend, England is his partner, and Ukraine is a mob boss.
the start
(“Dumbass, they're not our real parents.”)
Sometimes Lovino could be so mean, really, really mean but, Feliciano just tried to ignore it. He knew his brother didn't mean it, he was just upset because he had been teased again at school, that was all, that had to be it. He was just upset and was making nasty lies to try to make himself feel better, that's what Feliciano told himself.
(Because Mama and Papa were his parents, they had always been his parents!)
The kids at school were mean, too, though. They didn't just pick on Lovi, they picked on Feli too, and then Lovi would try to defend him and he'd just get beat up instead, and- And Feli really hated school. He didn't get math or science and he didn't like the food and school made Lovi so angry, and then he'd yell at Papa and Papa would yell back and Mama would try to get them to all be quiet but, it never worked and-
(He loved his Mama and his Papa but, sometimes, when he was curled up in his bed at night, he dreamed of the lady Lovi talked about. Sometimes he wishes she really was his Mama, because she looks so nice and pretty, and he wonders what it'd be like if he lived in Rome, with her.)
Lovino always said he was silly and stupid, that he dreamed too much but, Feli thinks it's the opposite. He's not the one pining away for a fantasy life that couldn't exist, (couldn't exist because his Papa told him so), and looking up for information on a 'Romano Vargas'. He's never home now, and Feli doesn't like this because it makes Mama worry and cry. And when Mama worries, Papa get upset and no one- no one likes it when Papa's upset.
One day Lovi does not come home from school at all, Mama cries and Papa leaves the house, his smile gone for once.
Feli wishes Lovino would just come home.
(Once, he asks his Mama if he really is her son and, she gets real quiet like before finally saying it doesn't matter if he is or not, because she loves him.)
When Lovino finally comes home, dragged in by Papa, he's taken to the back of the house and do not come out for a long, long time. Papa never yells, he never ever does but, Feli can hear Lovi yelling so, he knows it's not good.
Lovino does not come to bed that night, and, suddenly, Feliciano's room looks so very empty and imposing without his brother there.
(He dreams of the pretty lady that night, except she doesn't look so pretty anymore. Now she's dirty and there's a man with her, and there's lots of yelling and Feli thinks he can see a pretty girl that looks like Mama behind her, on the floor.)
When he wakes up, though, Lovino is in his bed with him. Lovi is quiet, for once, and doesn't even yell or curse at him when Feli hugs him. Instead he just hugs him back and murmurs something into his hair. He didn't hear it at first, because Lovino was really quiet about it but, later on, at breakfast, when there's someone knocking at the door, he finally realizes what his big brother said.
(“I sent for help.”)
The police officer, Mr. Jones, is really nice and says Feli can call him “Uncle Al”. Mr. Jones- Uncle Al, tries to explain things to him but, no matter what, Feliciano just can't understand. He says Feli's Mama and Papa aren't his real Mama and Papa and that, a long time ago, they got into a fight with Feli's real grandpa, who went and took their (Mama and Papa's- ex-Mama and Papa's) sister from them. Uncle Al doesn't say much but, he says that their sister got hurt, so Papa, ex-Papa went and took Feli and Lovi from their parents as revenge. Lovi butts in and says Papa, (he can't not be his Papa, he just can't), would of hurt them if Katya, (why doesn't he call Mama, “Mama”, anymore?), didn't stop him.
They all say this but, Feli just doesn't get it. He just, he doesn't understand. Uncle Al says he'll understand one day but, Feli doesn't think he will.
(Later on, when Uncle Al leaves to do something, Feliciano cries for his Mama. Lovino snaps and yells at him, says she's not their real mom, and Feliciano just cries more.)
Feliciano- Veneziano Vargas, has always felt strange amongst his family but, now, completely alone in the world, except for his brother, Lovino- Romano, he wishes he could have them back.
(His Mama does not come, and, eventually the little boy realizes she is not going to come back, never ever.)[/ul]
